Sorting through all the “stuff” I’ve collected over the years is time-consuming — hence the lack of action or new listings on etsy as of late. By next month more of my time will be dedicated to sewing, beading, painting and simply producing — fingers crossed. If I’m learning anything through this process, it’s 1) the art of the destash, as books and supplies will likely be the newest of my esty listings 2) V8 and Splash make passably palatable stand-ins for sit-down meals and 3) one can never have too many sketchbooks on hand, but websites may be a different matter (and are a bit trickier to ‘destash’…). Speaking of websites, if you’re the painterly sort and want your fill of head-tilting discourse check out http://mwcapacity.wordpress.com/. It’s rather refreshing.

So, instead of tending to unfinished projects (see above), it’s time to debate the efficacy of Twitter in regards to my daily life…

There are enough internal censors going off with every blog entry. Do I NEED to sign up for a new web service (the term ‘service’ is questionable, unless there’s utility behind the need to constantly reset unused and forgotten passwords.) Plus it’s yet another battle of the introvert/extrovert, and these days the contemplative introvert with a side of snark and a dash of snippy is winning. (Although I am mulling over plans that would gets me to Boston for a few days and pretty much sway things in favor for the extrovert argument. Anyways…)

Twitter does seem to have it’s utilitarian side — a gas usage/mileage tracker, local weather updates as well as news-related twitterings. And it does provide levity (who doesn’t need that?) while ‘building character’ (or at least one formed by a compilation of one-liners) thereby offering even more insight into friends (henceforth to be referred to as ‘the followed.’)

But every time the pointer closes in on the ‘get started-join!’ button, an image of the pending deluge of mindlessly broadcasted random bits and pieces has me recoiling in terror.

Yet another web-based ‘thing’ to put effort into? Fine, let’s further obfuscate the function of my ‘only for emergencies’ cell phone, which is primarily around just for the voicemail functionality, anyway? Add to the socially-shared updates and broadcasting already underway: musically’scrobbled’, ‘flickr-fed’ ‘til my finger is trigger-happy, ‘share’-ing web sites, half-heartedly ‘ thisNext‘-ing and offering up a fairly non-existant movie feed where fellow facebookers can test ‘our compatibility.’

So I’m sticking with Yelp and Furl (archive set to private, thanks) for now. Eventually I’ll give twitter a run — when I have an unlimited sms plan and have convinced myself the world needs — better yet, wants — minute-by-minute details of my daily exploits.

We will see…

Has she’s disappeared in a vat of resin? Sewn herself into the lining of some unsuspecting purse? Suffering from delirium from waking at 7 a.m. to drill holes into made-from-scratch beads?

For those who didn’t check on me to see if I’m still alive: Nope, nope and yes, actually. Couldn’t sleep this morning and won’t get much tonight, knowing what I know wants doing. So tonight will begin an evening of fluttering about until I high-tail it to Dada then Itc.

Of course, this is all contingent on keeping away from the Project runway site, where there are 21779 ways and counting to alter the best-made plans!
