The Art Couture entries originated so many months ago and culminated in a frenzy of cutting, sewing scraping and more sewing.

There was lots of staying up late and staying up early, working into the wee hours of the clock. After, of course, working during the wee hours of the clock for the full-time (which entailed plenty of hours outside of the regular 9-5 coding flash actionscript, plus having to work over the memorial day holiday?) Well, it did — but that a different story. This story resulted in three outfits that compliment each model’s personality, personal style, and sense of fun. And I think everyone (eventually) had a blast!

So this post is both a sigh of relief (all three models got a chance to walk down the runway) and clarification about what each model was sporting, and giving props to the right person where it’s due:

Kikii wore a halter and reversible skirt. The halter originated from the shapes of material resulting from cutting out the main skirt. I’ve wanted to do a halter like this since making the first of these sorts of skirts for some time now. This was the one!

Kate sported a last-minute edit (she ditch the top I made in order to pair the grided, deconstructionist skirt , pairing it with the gray hoodie she was already wearing. She ditched the shoes to go all out for the “Attack of the office supplies on casual Friday” look!

And, of course, there’s Naomi’s leather holster skirt. It was paired with a refashioned victorianish blouse, styled by Rich from DADA Boutique and armed with a nice vintage silver pop gun and a sleek, black lighter gun.

Rich also did all the make-up, and the hair for Kikii and Naomi. Kate sported a cute double-ponytailed do created by one of the stylists staffing the even — and it was the most well-done and polished ponytail I’ve ever seen!

More pics and details will come, but for now it’s time to unwind and then address the whirlwind of cloth currently spread throughout my living and dining rooms!

Not me, really, but 1, 2, 3, or 4 of the sketches submitted to Herron’s Art Couture ’08 fundraiser have been given the OK. It’s all happening Saturday, June 7, 2008 from 6:00-11:00pm.

Herron students and alumni were invited to create wearable art that’ll walk down the runway during a combination fundraiser/annual party/art auction/progressive dinner by local chefs that’ll meander through Eskenazi Hall.

There’s 3 very wearable creations dancing in my head, and the last one is a conceptual piece — it’s dancing, too, but . I’m eager to find out which one(s) the runway chairperson picks!
