Etsy and the four-letter word
Not long ago I ran around using two four-letter words almost constantly. E-T-S-Y and L-O-V-E, as in I heart Esty. Now, like every relationship, there are issues…
I started the esty shop in order to experiment and find an outlet allowing me to make ‘art’ on a consistent basis. Let’s reacquaint myself with materials that have been collected but not used for a while, to refine skills, work with new materials and develop new skills, I thought. If the result was good/successful/useful enough and worthy of being seen by others, it would be time to share it. Up onto Etsy it would go!
But then I started hearing things. The successful sellers crew hinted that grouping too many different (and seemingly disjointed) things in one all-encompassing shop was a bad thing. And the endless discussion forums that bringing up so many topics (copyrights and property rights, anyone?), concerns and pet-peeves — oy!
So what’s a girl whose art and creative pursuits spans so many mediums and definitions to do? I’m not partial to the thinking that exploring multiple mediums (say wha?) in one shop (whoa, there) is as much a hindrance (tsk!) as many make it out to be. Am I alone on this? Opening up a shop for every endeavor just doesn’t seem like an option to me!
